What Art of FACELESS Actually Does — Stated Plainly

People ask what AOF actually does often enough that we decided the answer deserved a straight statement, not a scroll through a decade of manifestos and side-projects. So we rewrote the top of our About page, and we're pinning the same statement everywhere else we post.

Here it is:

Art of FACELESS is a self-funded creative collective and independent publisher — we make and release our own work, and we open the same architecture to other independent creators. We're not built to chase growth or engagement; the only real metric is that AOF sustains itself financially, and once it does, it recruits more resources and takes on more creators. Individual creators keep their own rights and wealth — we benefit contractually through revenue share, not ownership.

That's the whole thing. No funnel underneath it, no follow-up ask.

Why now

We've spent quite some time now building the actual architecture behind that statement rather than just describing one: a sovereign comment and subscriber system that doesn't depend on any platform, a broadcast-only approach to social media, and — most concretely — an open call inviting other independent authors to publish through the same UK ISBN block and contributor terms AOF already uses for its own work. That last part matters most: it's the proof that "we open the same architecture to other independent creators" is a real offer, not a slogan.

None of this is designed to grow fast. It's designed to hold up for a long time, without anyone here running out of the energy it takes to keep it going.

What supporting AOF actually means

Support is £5 a month (cancel any time). There's no free tier moving forward, and there won't be one. That's a deliberate choice, not an oversight: we'd rather have a small number of people who've genuinely chosen to fund us and engage. Subscribers get 10% off everything in the shop, on top of hearing from us directly rather than through an algorithm.
